General responsibilities for all:
Applicant must be able to work well with crew members and follow direction. You will be working outdoors in the summer months so temperatures can be extreme. Must not be afraid to operate a shovel or rake. Must have a valid driver’s license with favorable motor vehicle record. Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule. Capable to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (50 lb) walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor under adverse conditions.
General Laborers ($14-$20 DOE)
General laborers assist skilled people in performing their everyday tasks. In order to get this job, you must be physically fit, hardworking, and able to follow instructions rapidly and proficiently. You need to pay attention to what you are doing, learn safety precautions, and be able to use many construction and labor tools. You may work on different sites with different crews to perform a variety of jobs. So having skills in several areas, in addition to being able to communicate with people is important.
The job duties of a general laborer vary. They may include cleaning and prepping a job site, loading and delivering materials or equipment, and using a variety of tools and machines such as rollers, skid steers, plate compactors, levels, power drills, grinders, saws, weed whackers, air compressors, etc.
CDL Drivers ($18-$22 DOE)
Although this is a driving position, experience loading and unloading equipment, transporting construction equipment on trailers, and willingness to perform other duties is a must. Responsibilities include hauling material to and from job sites safely. Completing daily truck inspections, recording and following up on any necessary repairs required. Turning in weight tickets and completing other paperwork as needed. Candidates must be willing to work with the field crew on job site when not driving truck.
Asphalt Crew Foreman ($20-$25 DOE)
Must have knowledge of and support the Driver Safety & Risk Management program. Specifically responsible for contributing to care factor & culture of safety program with employees. Interact with customers as needed to understand expected scope of work and to develop and expand customer relationships. Evaluate and measure pavement to determine the scope of work as outlined on the work order. Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget. Engage in open communication with the Superintendent(s), and report any issues which could affect the project plan. Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas. Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner. Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met. Ensure company equipment is operated, cared for, maintained and used effectively.
